From ultramarathon PBs to running pain-free for the first time in years — here's what happens when you fix the way you move.
Before working with Sam, running felt really hard. I would tire easily, couldn't keep a steady pace, and often needed to walk-run. I was getting pain in my shins and at times everything was hurting — it made me feel like maybe running wasn't for me.
After just one session, everything started to change. I suddenly felt stronger, like all this hidden muscle had switched on. For the first time, running felt natural. I cruised up a hill, kept going for 15 minutes, then felt so good I ran another 10 minutes easily. I felt like a champion. I was laughing because it felt so different.
Now, when I get the technique right, I can feel the bounce. Running feels light, easy and sustainable. For the first time I actually believe that running 10km this year is doable.
My biggest problems with running were pain in my calves, feeling labored and out of breath. In the last 18–24 months I'd also had plantar fasciitis on and off.
Training for just 2.5 weeks and I can run slowly but consistently for 30 minutes without pain, without being out of breath. I've gone from thinking I will have to endure pain — to being mind blown at my progress after just a few weeks.
I look forward to my next run so much I want to run every day. Sam is patient, passionate, relatable and honestly fun to work with.
Whether you are new to running, wanting to enjoy running more, improve your times, or prevent persistent injuries — Sam's training will help you immensely. Highly recommend 🏃♀️
Before starting, I'd been running for years, including trail ultras up to 100km. But I'd started getting niggles — tightness through my posterior chain, upper hamstring, glute and hip area, and an Achilles niggle. I knew I was missing the connection between core and glutes, but I couldn't work out how to make it happen when I ran.
Since starting, I'm really enjoying running again. I could feel the work coming from around my hips and glutes, which tells me the right muscles are starting to kick in.
It's also helped outside of running — I'm much more aware of how I move day to day. Even my walking has changed.
Former K1 Sprint Kayaker and three-time Olympian Alyce Wood came to the Rebuild wanting to run her first half marathon. After just weeks in the program, she ran 15km unplanned — "when I was going to turn, I was like, oh no, I actually feel so fine, so I just kept going." She's now training for the Gold Coast Half Marathon and running further with less effort than ever before.
Justin, 54, started running at national level at 17 — then suffered his first serious Achilles injury at 18. For the next 35 years he tried everything: 300 calf raises a day, shockwave therapy, biomechanical filming. Nothing worked.
After just 8 weeks in the program — no soreness, no Achilles issues, no calf problems. He placed 3rd in a competitive triathlon and finished with zero pain.
